SMASHTRONAUT

Jump'n'Run created in a 24 hour game jam.
Prompt: "Countdown"

A clumsy astronaut slept on the job on Mars and now they’re missing the rocket launch home!
Your objective is to get to the rocket in time while struggling with (not so intuitive) controls and obstacles along the way.

ABOUT

We wanted to develop interesting and unusual movement mechanics and tried to transfer "swipe" gestures used on touchscreens to a computer keyboard:

>> The astronaut can move between 5 lanes by swiping on the keyboard to avoid obstacles.

>> The astronaut accelerates by smashing any buttons (alternating between left and right side) on the keyboard.

>> The astronaut can be made to jump by pressing space.
